Theatre Director-Dramaturg-Actor

Jill Stapleton Bergeron has enjoyed a varied and diverse career in theatre as professional actor and director, college professor, and writer. She holds degrees in both music and theatre and has worked in every type of theatre including professional, academic, community, and church. Besides her main interests in acting and directing, Jill has also enjoyed professional work in live performance photography, costume design, publicity and promotion, playwriting, and jewelry design.
Jill recently started a theatre company, Free Spirit Theatre, in Knoxville, TN. The first production was The Lesson by Eugene Ionesco in November 2017, then Stop Kiss in February 2018, and Dead Man's Cell Phone in June followed by How I Learned to Drive in November and Plaza Suite in May 2019. Last sumer FST did a dinner-theatre production of the comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Then the pandemic hit, so we returned to the stage in the summer of 2021 with Cemetery Club and Love, Loss, and What I Wore in October. In 2022, we presented Proof in May and are ready to do Love Letters in August. Check out the website:
